Poland registered a trade surplus of USD 404mn in October 2019, with exports at USD 23.6bn and imports at USD 23.2bn.

Growth of both exports and imports recovered its pace since June 2019 when the indicators declined by 3.83% y/y and 6.42% y/y, respectively. Latest data show that in October exports grew by 8.86% y/y and imports by 5.99% y/y.

For the first ten months of 2019, Poland recorded a surplus with the rest of the world in the amount of USD 1.1bn, compared to a deficit of USD 3.8bn for the same period in 2018.

Total exports and imports were valued at USD 221bn and USD 220bn, respectively, in January-October 2019. However, both indicators recorded annual declines: -0.76% y/y for exports and -2.95% y/y for imports.

Poland’s main trading partners remain other EU members, with the largest being Germany and accounting for 28% of the total exports. Since the beginning of 2019 up until the end of October, Poland recorded a trade surplus with Germany amounting to USD 13bn, with exports USD 61.2bn and imports USD 48.2bn.
