The Brazilian economy created a net of 309,114 formal jobs in June, as the number of hires (1.6mn) exceeded the number of dismissals (1.3mn). According to the Ministry of Economy, which provides the data, all five groups of economic activities created jobs in the month. Notably, the services sector saw a net gain of 125,713 formal jobs in June, followed by the trade sector (+72,877) and the general industry (+50,145).

In the first half of 2021, the Brazilian economy added a net 1.5mn formal jobs, compared to a net job loss of 1.3mn in the same period of 2020.
