In September, China’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) decelerated further, growing by 1.7% y/y, compared to 2.4% on August. Higher food prices were the major driver of the headline inflation. Compared to same month last year, food prices increased by 7.9%, while non-food prices were barely changed.

The prices of consumer goods increased by 2.6% y/y in September, while the prices in the services sector saw only a marginal increase of 0.2% y/y.
