The consumer confidence in China improved in July, with the indicator increasing to 117.20 points compared to 112.6 points in June. This is the first increase since March 2020, the data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows. However the figure is still way below the pre-pandemic levels. In December for example the Consumer confidence index stood at 126.6 points, a record high.

The data breakdown shows that all the sub-indices improved, with the expectations component being at the highest level – 120.6 points, suggesting optimistic sentiment for the coming months among the Chinese consumers.
