Brazil’s Extended National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15) grew by 5.52% y/y in March 2021, a four-year high, after growing by 4.57% y/y in February. Notably, prices of transportation rose by 6.17% y/y, influenced by a 15.26% y/y jump in fuel prices. Food inflation slowed down to 14.51% y/y in March, compared to 14.77% y/y in February.

The IPCA-15 is a preview of the official inflation index, with the difference being the data collection, which is carried out from the 16th day of the previous month to the 15th of the current one.
