Industrial production in Germany rebounded in January 2021, increasing by 1.8% y/y, the first annual growth since August 2021. By contrast, in December 2021 the decline was by 2.7% y/y, working-day adjusted data by the German statistics institute Destatis shows. The index itself stood at 90.2 points.

The most confident increases are observed in the construction sector (12.3% y/y) and the manufacturing of non-durable goods (8.8% y/y). On the other hand, motor vehicles production posted a double-digit annual decline (-12.5% y/y).

On a monthly basis, Germany's industrial production also increased, even at a faster rate (2.7% y/y) compared to a 1.1% y/y growth in the previous month, according to seasonally and working-day adjusted data.
