The Brazilian index of industrial inventories stood at 49 in July, less than the threshold value of 50, meaning that inventories of finished industrial products declined during that month.

The sub-index for the extractive industry was measured at 44.3, compared to 41.4 in June, amid high global demand for minerals. In manufacturing, the indicator slipped to 49.1, from 49.2 in June. Notably, inventories of chemicals fell significantly in the seventh month of 2021, as the sector’s sub-index fell to 46.6 in July, from 51.3 in June.
