Two-wheelers used for private transportation have historically consumed the largest share of automobile registrations, almost about three quarters, followed by light motor vehicle, three-wheelers for transportation, light goods vehicle, light passenger vehicles, and heavy goods vehicles.

The year on year decline in total registrations of motor vehicles since April reflects in the main contributors to the volume of registrations.

Amongst these, light motor vehicles that consist of cars, jeeps, and taxis used for commercial purposes, are the only category that has experienced positive growth since August 2020. Light passenger vehicles have experienced the worst decline of 74.9% y/y in October.
