The deficit accumulated since the start of the fiscal year in October is now worth USD 1.71tn. By contrast, the year-to-date gap in the budget in March 2020 was USD 743.5bn. The US federal government ended the fiscal year 2020 with a record high deficit worth USD 3.1tn.
