Russia's real GDP declined by 1% y/y in Q1 2021, according to a preliminary release from the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), which was less than the estimate from the Ministry of Economic development of -1.3% y/y.

The latest figure is a slight improvement compared to a close to 2% y/y decline in Q4 2020, but also a fourth straight quarter with negative annual change. The first full estimate with breakdowns is due on June 15.
