マレーシア GDP成長率 前年同期比16.1%に上昇
Malaysia’s real GDP increased by 16.08% y/y in the second quarter of 2021 following a slight contraction by 0.49% y/y in the previous quarter, non-seasonally adjusted data shows. The latest jump is the first annual increase since Q1 2020 and is largely driven by a low-base effect. On a quarterly basis, seasonally adjusted, Malaysia’s economy contracted by 1.98% q/q, compared to a 2.7% q/q growth in Q1 2021.
Private consumption increased by 11.6% y/y in the second quarter of the year, while government spending grew by 9.1% y/y. Gross fixed capital formation (investment) also posted significant jump (16.5% y/y). Imports and exports outperformed in terms of annual growth, with exports rising by 37.4% y/y and imports matching this rate with a 37.7% y/y increase, both accelerating from 11.9% y/y and 13% y/y, respectively, in Q1 2021.
