The tax revenues collected by the Brazilian federal government increased by 7.8% y/y, in nominal terms, to BRL 159bn in December 2020, reflecting the economic activity recovery. According to the Secretariat of Federal Revenue, the central government collected an extraordinary amount of deferred taxes and BRL 1.5bn in corporate taxes on income and profits in the last month of 2020.
