Industrial production growth in Malaysia dived deeper into negative territory in November 2020, declining by 2.25% y/y compared to a more modest 0.27% drop in October. The strongest driver of this performance is the mining sector, which posted a 15.8% decrease. This sub-indicator’s growth has been negative since March 2020.

Electricity’s IPI fell too in November 2020, by 2.5% y/y, returning to a negative change, after briefly increasing in October 2020. Only the manufacturing sector registered an increase worth 1.9% y/y.
