Thailand’s trade surplus narrowed in September 2020, staying at USD 2.2bn compared to USD 4.4bn in August. Exports were worth USD 19.6bn, while imports stood at USD 17.4bn. Thailand’s trade was markedly subdued in April and May 2020, as many countries imposed social distancing measures to cope with the coronavirus resulting in a disrupted flow of goods, among other things.

In terms of annual change, both imports and exports keep posting declines in September, however, not as severe as in the previous four months. Exports dropped by 3.9% y/y, while imports decreased by 9% y/y.
