The purchasing managers’ index (PMI) in Euro Area’s manufacturing sector jumped to 2-year high in September, reaching 53.7, seasonally-adjusted data by IHS Markit shows. Services PMI, however, dropped to 48, again diving into contraction territory. Each figure under 50 indicates contraction in the sector, while a figure above this threshold – expansion.

Despite the good performance of the manufacturing, business activity in the services sector deteriorates, as many countries in the Eurozone are again imposing social distancing measures in a bid to contain the spike in COVID-19 cases.
