COVID-19: Brazil’s services activity rises 16.7% y/y in August

Brazil’s volume of services recorded the sixth annual increase in a row in August, by 16.7% y/y, amid an increase in the number of vaccinated people against the COVID-19 in the country.

Notably, the activities of services provided to families rose by 42.2% y/y in August, reflecting a low base effect, as the demand for bars, restaurants, and hotels was subdued in the previous year. The subindex of transport and mail rose by 19.6% y/y in August, while the subindex of information and communication services expanded by 13.6% y/y.
