Chinese Currency Rises as Trade Surplus Swells and Hot Money Flows
China's currency is dancing to its own tune.
In a year when the U.S. dollar has reigned supreme over emerging-market currencies, the notable exception has been the yuan, which Beijing has allowed to appreciate nearly 2.5% this year, the fourth year in a row of small but steady increases.
