The automobile production in Brazil continued to rebound in June, as many factories resumed operations. The car factories produced 98,708 units in June, compared to 43,080 units in May. In the first half of 2020, however, the car production fell by 50.5% y/y to 729,527 units.

The number of new cars sold in Brazil also had a rebound to 132,818 in June, from 62,190 in May, as many car stores in the country had to close doors from March due to the quarantine measures imposed in the most populous states. On a yearly basis, the number of cars sold dropped by 40% y/y in June and by 38% y/y in H1 2020.
