CEIC Gallery/World Trend Database/Hot Topics - 2016 Figures/Part 11 - January 14, 2016 In 2016 the CIS region is expected to turn to a positive growth of 0.5% after the 2.7% contraction in 2015. √ Russia is expected to remain in recession as the economy will decrease by 0.6% in after -3.8% in 2015. √ Ukraine will turn back to a positive growth for the first time in 3 years after the economy contracted by 6.8% in 2014 and 9.1% in 2015. Ukraine’s economy is expected to grow by 2% in 2016. √ Kazakhstan’s economy will improve in 2016 after the slowdown in 2015. Real GDP growth of Kazakhstan is expected to increase to 2.4% in 2016 after the modest growth of 1.5% in 2015. √ Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will reach the highest growth in the region - 8.9% and 7% respectively. Growth in Belarus is expected to remain negative for the second consecutive year as the economy will shrink by 2.2% in 2016.
