China's passenger traffic dropped by 54.8% y/y in the first half of 2020. As of end-June 2020 the number of passenger carried was 800.5mn, while that in the same period of the previous year was 1.4bn.

Passenger Transportation in China Plummeted in H1 2020

The lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic had an equally negative impact on the three major segments of the Chinese passenger transportation sector. Civil aviation dropped by 54.2% y/y in H1 2020 in terms of passenger carried, while the railway and the waterway passenger traffic declined by 53.9% y/y and by 56.7% y/y, respectively.
