Brazil’s economy added 260,353 formal jobs in January


Brazil's economy posted a net gain of 260,353 formal jobs in January, as the number of hires (1,527,083) exceeded the number of dismissals (1,266,730), according the Ministry of Economy’s General Register of Employed and Unemployed (CAGED).
All five groups of economic activities created jobs during this month. Notably, manufacturing and services saw a net gain of 87,162 and 83,686 formal jobs in January, respectively, followed by the construction, which created 43,498 formal jobs in the month.
